Moles

Mole Class is made up of eight children (Reception and year 1). Lead by the class teacher Miss J Jukes.

We work very similar to Badger and Caterpillar Class following a structured timetable. Our curriculum meets the needs of each individual child, providing a rich stimulating environment where children can thrive and meet the AIM High ethos.  Mole Class begins the day with social time eating breakfast supported by using an ALD board to develop those important moments for communication, followed by our Good morning routine at the benches. This includes self-registration and discussions on how we are feeling using the emotions monsters.

We then move onto adult directed work at the tables working with a sensory approach where needed.

Having a total communication approach in Moles is essential for each pupil to thrive and communicate their needs effectively. We do this by using personalised ALD boards, now and next approach, Makaton and visual aids.

Class updates

Reading books- Children are encouraged to handle books with staff modelling reading at least three times a week. Children will bring a new reading book/sensory board book home each week. We would appreciate if you could read this book at home with your child and record this in the reading book.

Soft play (Crystal Leisure Centre) - This is on a three-week rota. Moles class will start on the 16th October. Children are advised to wear comfortable clothes on this day.

Forest- Children will regularly visit the school forest. Please ensure your child has wellies and waterproofs in school, these must be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Home Communication Book- Each child has a home/school communication book. We check these books every day in the morning, and we will put a comment in as and when needed. We encourage parents to use these books if you have any messages you want to mention.
